Double Reversal This technique takes your through a process of reversed thinking. Its purpose is to help you find reasonable solutions to problems and issues. It will help you to consider other, more useful points of view. This technique will help you see things in perspective.
Having a happy, successful relationship with my life partner. 2. Reverse the goal.
Having a failed relationship with my life partner. 3. List all the ideas you can
think of to achieve each reversed goal.
Suggestions to achieve the reversed goal: i. Talk down at my partner.
ii. Do not help with cooking and cleaning. iii. Break all my promises to her. iv. Don’t have physical contact with her. v. Argue with her about spending money. vi. Let her pick up after me.
4. Reverse each “reversed”
suggestion.
Double-reversed suggestion for the goal: i. Speak to her with respect.
This technique is highly effective because it helps to find
solutions to a problem quickly and it puts things in perspective.
Write down all the negative aspects surrounding a problem.
For example, criticisms and complaints from others, such
as being accused of unprofessional conduct at work. Reverse
each reversed suggestion to a positive. The final list of
suggestions is the behaviours you need to change and action
you need to take in order to solve the problem.ii. Cook at least twice a week and help with cleaning. iii. Keep every promise I make. iv. Be more demonstrative. v. Do not argue over money. vi. Pick up after myself. By Elsabé Manning
